ABOUT US
Social Development of Putting Last First
Samarpit Sewa Sansthan is a non-government Organization that works towards empowering the most vulnerable and deprived sections of the society that is established on 9th Dec 1992. Towards this endeavor, the social, economic and political empowerment of women remains a key priority area for the organisation. At the same time, the organisation also strives for maintaining a balance between the technological advancement and indigenous cultural values of human kind. It strongly advocates for equity in the accessibility and use of natural resource and at the same time promotes sustainable management of these resources.
The development strategy of SAMARPIT SEWA SANSTHAN, has always been based on people´s needs, cultural values and their indigenous knowledge and traditional skills. The organisation subscribes to the process approach rather than the service delivery approach and therefore, the focus of its interventions is on building the capacities of the communities rather than providing them direct economic support. The welfare approach being pursued by the Government of India for the past 50 years has failed to sustainably improve the socio-economic status of the marginalized and deprived sections of the society and the organisation is instead focusing on a rights-based approach to development.
The past twelve years of working with and for the rural communities, have strongly reinforced the belief that development is a constant process, which cannot have any shortcuts. Development enhances when community feels, community needs and community realizes its importance. Based upon our understanding all developmental interventions have to focus on search for possible options for solving the various problems at community level, building capacity of communities and later developing a sense of ownership amongst the communities. Based upon the unique socio-cultural and geo-political characteristics of Uttaranchal we have identified strengthening of local self-governance institutions and the sustainable management of natural resources as our key thematic areas.
Samarpit Sewa Sansthan is a proactive people’s organization that works towards establishing a progressive, peaceful, secular and just society based on the tenets of equality, fraternity and mutual support.
The mission of the Samarpit Sewa Sansthan is to enable people to conquer poverty and inequality particularly in relation to natural resources.
Rural people may be poor and illiterate, but they are not irrational, and we must understand their rationality. We must first be student if we want to be successful teachers. Start with the people, and only with the people. Never forget the women. From the standpoint of current expectations, resource availability, materials and circumstances, most traditional technologies are inadequate and most modern technologies are inaccessible. Any fool can make a thing complicated, it takes a genius to make it simple.

TESTIMONIALS
Akansha Rao/ Dehradun
We deeply appreciate of the contribution made by this (Samarpit Sewa Sanathan) great movement, within a short span of time. And I consider myself fortunate. Interacting with kids is always an exhilarating experience because one gets to learn so much.
Nikhil Handa/ Dehradun
One of the most beautiful things for the heart is to see little children and women, the smiles, the tears of their gratitude. Seeing the excitement and enthusiasm among the kids made my heart fill with joy.
Sanjeev Rawat/ Dehradun
There is no better expenditure of money than feeding a needy and it’s really important for children to stay in school and learn. I love this programme, this is one of the best examples of organisations that do their work quiety and efficiently. I hope I get the opportunity to be a part of many more such events organised by the Samarpit Sewa Sansthan.
