All over world milk production has increased because of cows of American and European origin but cows of exotic origin suffer from theileria, a blood protozoan disease like malaria in humans. This disease can be diagnosed microscopically and with due treatment, cows can saved. At Samarpit Sewa Sansthan over 100 cows were diagnosed positive and treated by local veterinarian.
Biotechnological Advances
The overall development of hilly region has been demanding social as well as economic empowerment of the community. At Kalshi farm, Embryo Transfer Training Center Dehradun , Science and Technology, Govt. of India was visited on 3-12-2012 to 5-12-2012, a group of 11 farmers/ villagers from Guldi, Haddam and Kot. They were shown compressed feed plant, production of electricity from bio fuel, vermi compost, sale of cow urine for medicine, production of male calves by Embryo Transfer Technology. The breeding, feeding, disease control, use of milking machine, herd management were also explained to the visitors. In addition to this, different breeds of milk cows at the farm were Jersey, Holstein Freisen, Different varieties of fodder crops were also shown.
